Masky Privacy Policy
Masky is designed as a privacy-first memo app that keeps your notes on your device whenever possible. This policy explains what information the app handles, how advertising features work, and what choices are available to you.
1. Core principle
Masky is an offline-first memo app. Your memo content, categories, PIN-based protection settings, disguise mode settings, and backup files are primarily stored on your device. The operator does not collect or review the content of your memos on a separate server.
2. Information handled by the app
- Memo titles, content, categories, favorite state, and created or updated timestamps
- PIN-related settings used to protect the app and secret environments
- App preferences such as theme, language, disguise mode, screen protection, and link extraction
- Encrypted backup files that you export or import manually
- Advertising SDK processing data needed to deliver ads and manage consent status
3. How memo data is stored
Memo data is stored on your device. The app does not provide account-based cloud sync and does not upload memo content to the operator's servers. If you export backups or share files outside the app, the privacy practices of the storage location or destination app you choose will apply.
4. Advertising and privacy choices
Masky may use Google AdMob and Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to show banner ads and manage ad-related privacy choices. During that process, Google or its partners may process information such as advertising identifiers, device information, approximate location, and technical data needed for ad delivery and measurement.
- In supported regions, you may see an ad privacy or consent form.
- You may be able to update your choice again from the ad privacy settings entry in the app.
- If consent is unavailable or an error occurs, the app is designed to favor non-personalized ads.
5. Permissions and device features
- File access: export or import encrypted backup files, and choose image overlays
- Photo selection: apply a user-selected image for disguise mode
- Internet access: load ads and open the privacy policy or support pages
The app is designed to use permissions only for these functions.
6. Third-party services
- Google AdMob: ad delivery and measurement
- Google User Messaging Platform (UMP): consent and ad privacy choices
- Google platform APIs: file pickers, sharing, secure storage, and related OS features
Additional data practices may be governed by the policies of those third-party providers.
7. Security
Masky is designed to protect sensitive memo data through PIN protection, platform secure storage, and encrypted backup formats. However, no software can eliminate all risk. Your device security posture, operating system, and backup storage choices also affect the overall level of protection.
8. Your choices
- You can edit or delete your memos.
- You can change ad privacy choices where that option is provided.
- You can remove local app data by deleting the app.
- You are responsible for managing any backup files stored outside the app.
9. Children's Privacy
Masky is not directed to children under 13 (or the legal age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that a child has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.
10. Data Retention and Deletion
Your memo and settings data are stored only while the app is installed on your device. When you delete the app, all locally stored data is destroyed immediately and cannot be recovered. You are responsible for deleting any backup files you have manually exported to external storage or cloud services.
